Basics
How to Play
Each GridCipher puzzle is a classic logic grid: every item in the primary category matches exactly one item in each other category. Use the clues to deduce which pairs are possible.
Controls
- Click or tap a cell to cycle: blank -> X -> check -> blank.
- Use arrow keys to move between cells; press space or enter to toggle.
- Use shift-click, right-click, or delete/backspace to clear a cell instantly.
- Check marks confirm a match. X eliminates a pairing.
The grid records your deductions: checks are confirmed matches, X marks are eliminations.
Logic shortcuts
Use row and column rules to accelerate
Row logic
When three options in a row are X, the last remaining cell is a check.
Example: If Alice cannot be in three hotels, the last hotel is hers.
Column logic
When three options in a column are X, the remaining cell must be the match.
Example: If only one developer can stay at Harbor Suites, lock it in.
Tips
- Start with direct clues that fix a relationship immediately.
- Eliminate impossible options to narrow each row and column.
- When only one option remains in a row or column, it must be a check mark.
